Meet BIGGEST LOSER contestant Jeffery Tadlock!

Snack bars y’all!  It’a a fitness & nutrition website after all.  This week, we asked some BIGGEST LOSER and Weigh ‘n Win contestants to share some of what they have learned on this journey.  Here’s a blog from BIGGEST LOSER Jeffery Tadlock on some of his favorite food finds!

From Jeffery: Since starting the Florence’s BIGGEST LOSER, I have been trying new types of foods, particularly types of bars.  (Seriously, I have tried a lot of bars!)  So, I wanted to share with you some of my favorite bars and maybe do a plug for a couple of other types of foods.

To start off, I have realized that Special K bars are my favorite. I am particularly fond of strawberries and they have some bars with that flavor. For the last few weeks I have been eating the Special K Red Berries Bar. It is crunchy but it doesn’t taste like cardboard. For 90 calories, you cannot beat it.

Sticking with Special K, I purchased a Chocolaty Strawberry Bar over the weekend. This is my new favorite! If you like chocolate covered strawberries then you are going to absolutely love this!!! Seriously, I was a little taken back by the amazing taste because it only has 90 calories and it has 3 grams of fiber! This would make for a delicious dessert!

If crunchy bars are not your thing then I would recommend the Nutri-Grain Apple Cinnamon bar. I was strapped for time one day when I was on my way to teach one of my homebound students so I stopped at a gas station to find something to eat.  They had this bar and it looked healthy so I figured I would give it a shot. It has a fruit-filled center and it is a soft kind of bar. The awesome part is it is only 120 calories! The fruit filling gives it a great sweet taste.

The last bar I will recommend is the Nature Valley Sweet and Salty Peanut Bar.  It is a good mixture of a soft and hard bar. It has a hard peanut bar on the top but a smooth layer of peanut butter on the bottom. It tastes somewhat like a Payday candy bar. With 190 calories, it the largest out of all the bars I have mentioned.

Even though this is not a bar, I feel like I must share this amazing find I got at Bi-Lo a few weeks ago.  I found ranch dressing that is made with yogurt.   It is from Boathouse Farms and it has no artificial flavors or colors. There are no preservatives in it and it only has 45 calories per serving.  It tastes like regular ranch dressing! It’s amazing! I am not a yogurt person at all but this I like! If you are like me, and you need dressing on your salad, this is something to look into!

Okay, enough blogging.  It’s time for a snack! I think I’ll have an Apple Cinnamon bar! J  What are you going to have?
