In this eighth week of our BIGGEST LOSER competition, we will begin to look back… partly to celebrate and partly to review.

If you’re just starting out on your weight-loss journey, here are 15 things BIGGEST LOSER nutritionist Kitty Finklea recommends you start doing immediately.  Or, if you are on your journey still, see how many of these you are currently doing.  

  1. Make a plan
  2. Record your intake
  3. Eat protein at every meal
  4. Eat regular meals and snacks
  5. Eat more fiber — focus on what to add, not what to avoid
  6. Stock your kitchen and office with healthy food
  7. Find healthy options for every dining-out place you frequent
  8. Stop eating 3 hours before you go to bed
  9. Remember the 90/10 rule
  10. Control portions
  11. Downsize your dinnerware
  12. Drink more water
  13. Listen to your stomach instead of your mouth
  14. Find other ways to cope without using food
  15. Move more — find ways to move more throughout the day.
